Motus No.3 in A Minor

About this work

This Motus No.3 is part of a series of compositions that explore the sonority, colors, and capabilities of Modern Music Brass Bands. With some Latin American “spices,” it transmits intensity and passion for rhythm.
Jorge Luis Valverde-BartlettMotus No.3

A magnificent fusion of cinematic grandeur and the vibrant soul of Latin America, this composition showcases the immense power and color of the modern brass band. From its grand opening, the work establishes a big scale, driven by a dynamic and commanding percussion section.

The rhythm is powerful and nuanced, achieving an emotional range with soaring fanfare and moments of tender lyricism with equal skill, understanding, and development of the ensemble’s sonic potential.

The composition’s Latin heart beats strong, propelled by the percussion’s fiery, syncopated rhythms that form the work’s core. Above this foundation, the high-range brass section carries melodies brimming with a soulful, expressive character, evoking the nostalgic ambiance of colonial and Andean influences with grace. The harmony and texture create a soundscape that is intellectually stimulating and profoundly moving.

The Collection

In this section, I include all the works for various types and sizes of orchestra. These compositions are a manifestation of my curiosity to write music that expresses emotions, captures moments, or discovers new hues that bring joy to the human soul.
